This is How You Make Waves

Making Waves brought together movement, music, performance and visual storytelling to create an entertainment experience that flowed throughout the evening.

The concept gave us plenty of room to play. Rather than relying on one style of entertainment, the evening brought together artists from different disciplines, creating a program that continued to evolve as guests moved through the experience.

Setting the Night in Motion

Performances from Alberta Ballet and Decidedly Jazz Danceworks brought two distinct styles of dance into the evening, while cirque performers added another layer of movement and spectacle. Poets, musicians and performers helped build an entertainment lineup that felt varied while still connecting back to the larger Making Waves concept.

The transitions between spaces became part of the experience too. A silk funnel was used to move guests into the main room, transforming what could have simply been a change of location into another memorable moment of the evening.

Creating a Visual Experience

For a chiffon dance number, underwater footage was created to complement the performance and reinforce the feeling of movement behind the Making Waves theme. The combination of the footage, fabric and choreography allowed the concept to come through visually rather than needing to be explained.

Those kinds of details are what can turn entertainment into something bigger. Each performance had its own identity, but together they helped create one cohesive experience.

A Lineup Built to Make an Impact

Music played a major role throughout the event, including a 12-piece band and performances from World Wide Vibe. Jann Arden also took the stage, adding another standout moment to an already packed entertainment program.

With dance, cirque, poetry, live music and custom visual elements all coming together, Making Waves was exactly the kind of project we love: one where entertainment isn't simply added to an event, but becomes part of how guests experience it.

From the first performances to the transitions between spaces and the final moments on stage, every element contributed to the same creative direction. The result was an evening filled with different forms of entertainment, all working together to keep the experience moving and, fittingly, making waves.
