Calgary library foundation fundraising gala
After the successful opening of the library in 2018, the Calgary Library Foundation came back to fuze and requested another entertainment extravaganza for their 2023 gala fundraiser. We were again tasked to supply entertainment, move their guests throughout the space and support their theme centered around the Graphic Novel. They wanted to create a contemporary and urban feel for the evening so we dipped into our vault of local artists to customize an unique experience for their guests.
Working with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, we set the tone with a string quartet as guests arrived. Collaborating with them and the Calgary Opera, we put together an attention grabbing moment with a provocative opera number before the speeches.
After the speeches, we surprised guests as a vibrant group of 15 singers transcended down the 4th floor staircase with an energetic and uplifting vocal number. Joined by costumed dancers, the entertainers moved throughout the 3rd floor before transitioning into a 2nd number as they enticed the guests to follow them down to the 2nd floor.
Arriving on the 2nd floor as guests grabbed cocktails and appetizers, they were delighted by multiple improvised A capella performances between a tap dancer and beat boxer. Featured further down the ramp on “Mom’s Staircase”, we positioned a keyboardist and vocalist to draw the guests towards the main bars.
Around the corner, strategically positioned was a headliner act bringing the guests to their final partying place. Amping up the crowd with party lights, big sound and tons of energy this Drum and DJ duo was a killer entertainment feature.
Just when you thought you’ve seen it all, a feisty pop-up dance performance put an exclamation point on the street theme of the evening; enticing the rest of the guests to get on the dance floor and make some noise!
Coordinating with the production team, entertainment was conceived, choreographed, planned and timed throughout the 4 floors, taking them through a Graphic Novel journey full of wonder and surprise.
